The New Birth Nicodemus Missed
Nicodemus was a respected religious leader, a man educated in the scriptures and trusted among his people. Yet when Jesus told him he had to be “born again” to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, he didn’t understand what that meant. Looking back now from spirit life, he admits how little he grasped of that teaching and how rarely it is understood even today.
He explains that the New Birth is not symbolic, emotional, or merely intellectual. It is the most essential truth for the salvation of the soul, and without it no one can inherit eternal life. People can believe in God, honor Jesus, and participate in every church practice and sacrament, but without the New Birth all of that remains empty on a soul level.
What the New Birth Really Is
The New Birth happens when the Divine Love of the Father flows into a person’s soul. This Love is not just a sentiment. It is God’s very own essence. As the soul receives it, something miraculous begins to happen. The natural, inherited nature of man starts to fade, and the Divine nature of the Father begins to form within.
As that Love grows and fills the soul, earthly desires and affections gradually lose their hold, and the person becomes at one with the Father. This is what brings true immortality. It does not come from belief alone, or ritual, or moral living, but from the soul being transformed by God’s own substance of Love.
Why Jesus Compared It to the Wind
Nicodemus recalls how Jesus said the New Birth is like the wind. You cannot see where it comes from or where it goes. The working of the Holy Spirit is not something visible to the physical senses, yet it is real and powerful. The Divine Love comes from the Father, and it enters the soul in response to sincere longing and prayer.
Understanding every detail is not necessary. What matters is knowing that the New Birth is caused by the inflowing Love of God, not by effort, ritual, or belief alone, but through earnest longing for it through prayer.
Nicodemus message is a reminder not of doctrine or debate but of the one thing Jesus emphasized above all: the souls must be transformed by the Father’s Divine Love to enter His Kingdom. Everything else is secondary.

what an eyeopener again, to the real meaning and purpose of the New Birth!
