How the Soul Opens to Divine Love
Divine Love is not something we earn through effort, discipline, belief, or spiritual practice. It can only be received as a gift. There is only one doorway into it. The soul must desire it and ask God for it. This does not mean we need perfect words or a spiritual feeling. The soul opens when it honestly wants God’s Love more than anything else in that moment.
To pray in this way, the soul needs faith. Faith here is not religious belief and it is not agreeing with a doctrine. Faith means trusting that God’s Love is real, that He hears us, and that He wants to give His Love to us. When the soul starts to trust God even a little, the desire for His Love becomes stronger. That living desire is what opens the soul.
When the soul opens through faith and longing, God will fill it with His own Love. This Love is not a symbol or a comforting thought. It actually changes the nature of the soul. It makes us more like Him, not only in attitude or behavior, but in the deepest substance of who we are.
And when we struggle to have faith, all we need to do is ask our Father to strengthen it. As faith grows, the soul can long for His Love more freely, and in that longing the soul opens. Then Divine Love can enter and begin to transform the soul. This Love does not only soothe feelings. It reaches into the roots of fear, loneliness, guilt, pain, and every cause of suffering. It heals us from the inside out.
